RF: traveled under the arc and straight to the bird

RR: traveled toward the tip of the right-hand point turn left and scooped up the bird!

HF: Smacked it!

LR: came back to the line and set up on a mission to go long took off on a path at the area of the fall got to the area est. a small area hunt and retrieved the bird.

Handled 52. FC LKY’s Controlled Chaos “Riot”, LM, Kenny Trott

Dog came to the line at 11:47 am  EST

RF: snatched it up quick

HF: took a great initial line to the area drove the hillside to the right of the bird and deep, looked as if the dog was cont. to drive the hill and Kenny Handled Riot to the bird.

RR: chalk-lined to the area and retrieved the bird clean.

LR: swam a tight line to the right-hand shore past the tip of the left-hand point cont. to swim to the far bank traveling deep of the mark to the right exited the water drove to the road before coming back to the area to make the retrieve.

Dog came to the line at 11:30 am  EST

RF: Pinned it !

HF: Hammered it !

RR: traveled to the tip of the point turn left and over to retrieve the bird.

LR: took a great initial line traveled over the left point toward the area got out of the water near the holding blind and straight to the bird. Nice Job!

RF: Stepped on it!

HF: traveled up the hill behind the gun station, went a bit deep and right before turning to the left toward the area to retrieve the bird.

RR: traveled a path at the area of the fall thru the lunging water and deep cover got to the tip of the point over to the area and retrieved the bird.

LR: traveled a tight initial line as the RR, angled across the pond to the area put on a small area hunt and retrieve the bird quickly.

Handled 48. FC-AFC Kimber VIII “Kimber”, LF, Jerry Patopea

Dog came to the line at  10:52 am  EST

RF: took a B-Line for the bird and scooped it up clean!

LR: traveled a path tight to the right-hand shoreline, tip-toed the tip of the right-hand point,once past the point the dog took a hard left toward the area, exited the water on the left hand shore just shy of the holding blind cont. to drive Jerry Handled Kimber to the bird.

HF: dog got to the water's edge and looked confused Jerry Handled Kimber to the bird.

RR: took off on a good line toward the bird, started up the hill and looked like he was going to cont. to drive the hill so Jerry Handled Kimber to the bird.

The wind has picked up significantly to be blowing at 15 mph. It has also begun to rain, the skies are cloudy with some fog showing up in the area.

Handle 45. FC-AFC Tip From A Gypsy “Marley”, LF, Danny Farmer

Dog came to the line at 10:29 am EST

RF: traveled a path under the arc, went a bit deep of the fall, then quickly worked back to retrieve the bird.

RR: traveled a path wide right of the area, drove over the point out of sight then came back up on the point and re-entered the water to retrieve the bird.

LR: traveled a path toward the holding blind got onto the point and re-entered still carrying a good line toward the fall area, continued the path all the way to the bird.

HF: took off on a good  initial path toward the area began to fade hard right while swimming dog looked to be going back to the LR, Danny Handled Marley to the bird.

RF: Put on a small area hunt before retrieving the bird.

HF: Was a nice mark.

RR: Sister had a great initial line, angling the heavy cover along the shore line, traveling a path just behind the holding blind. Sister got up on the point to the left of the holding blind, made 2 passes to the left and then turned to the right, established a small tight hunt in the area, before retrieving the bird.

LR: Made a chalk line toward the area of the bird, driving a bit deep of the fall area, before hunting her way back to retrieve the bird.

RF: Small area hunt, before retrievin the bird

RR: Traveled a path directly to the holding blind, got up on the point and turned to the right, went out of sight and reappeared with bird in mouth.

HF: Started out on a good initial line, got deep and left of the fall, Sammie handled Payton to the bird.

LR: Dog had a great line 3/4 of the way to the mark, exited the water early, Sammie attempted to handle, and the judges instructed the gunners to come out and help the dog.

Series 10 Test Description Land/Water Quad

Welcome to the 10th Series...

The starting mat is facing to the South, overlooking a large pond with ample cover along the shore line. The wind is steady out of the North, with 5-8 mph winds. The temperature is 59 degrees, with a 30% chance of rain. It is sprinkling on occasion.

The test begins with a gun station situated on a right hand point on the right shoreline of the pond. This station measures at 182 yards and throws a hen duck to the left landing in heavy wet cover. This station retires into a clump of pine trees at the base of the point. We will refer to this bird as the Right Retired (RR).

The next bird is situated deep and left of the first on the far shore to the left of the pond, deep of a point that protrudes to the right in the water. This bird is measuring at 271 yards and is throwing a drake mallard to the right into heavy wet cover along the far shore of the pond. This bird also retires into a huge clump of oak sapling on the edge of the pond. We will refer to this mark as the Left Retired (LR).

The next mark to be thrown is situated to the left up on the hill side, deep of the pond in a checkerboard mowed field. This station measures at 221 yards and is throwing a hen pheasant flyer to the right, landing in a cover strip. In the water along the shore line are a half dozen mixed species AVERY duck decoys. This gun station remains visible during the test and will be referred to as the Hen Flyer (HF).

The next and final bird is also situated on the hillside and is to the left of the last gun station. This gun station is throwing a rooster pheasant flyer to the left, landing in heavy cover. This gun station measures at 166 yards and remains visible throughout the test. We will be referring to this mark as theRooster Flyer (RF).

This test is taking an average of 15-20 minutes per dog to complete.

This is a meaty test with a lot of swimming that is sure to test the memory of all of these magnificent retrievers. Good luck to all, and let the retrieves begin!

RF: traveled under the arc made a pass to the right before turning to the left and retrieve the bird.

MR:skimmed the back side of the holding blind, put on the brakes to turn back to the area establishing a hunt in the area to retrieve the bird

HFR: went wide right of the area, out of sight for a few seconds reappeared right and short of the area then quickly drove up the hill straight to the area to retrieve the bird.

Re-Run 77. FC-CFC Laird’s Cynful Wisdom “Wiley”, LF, Dave Smith

RF: Smacked it!

MR: skimmed the backside of the holding blind est. a hefty hunt to the backside and right of the holding blind, before breaking over to the correct side and retrieving the bird.

HFR: traveled wide right of the fall area, broke down two cover strips short of the area est a hunt short before driving deep and hunting her way to the area and retrieve the bird.

Handle 16. FC-AFC Mercy Mercy Mercy Me “Mercy”, LF, Paul Sletten

RF:  drilled it

MR: skimmed the backside of the holding blind broke down est a hunt on the right side of the holding blind Paul Handled Mercy to the bird clean.

HFR: est a sizable hunt in the area before retrieving the bird

RF: traveled under the arc put on the brakes and went straight to the bird

HFR: hammered it

MR: traveled tight of the holding blind looking for the bird to make a perfect retrieve!

9. FC-AFC Candlewood’s Skyrocket “Sky”, LF, Chris Ledford

RF: small area hunt to retrieve the bird.

MR: travel tight to the holding blind turned to the left and hunted up the bird, for a good mark

HFR: traveled wide right off the area went out of sight for a bit before reappearing making big loops around the area before coming up with the bird to complete the retrieve.

RF: traveled under the arc drove a bit deep hunted cover strip deep and right before breaking over the right est a large hunt throughout many of the cover strips near the area Danny attempted to Handled Zoe to the bird. But had to Pick Up from Series 9. Very tough scenting!

MR: traveled tight to the holding blind went deep and came back to area for a rapid retrieve.
