Series 6 Test Description

Series 6 is a Land Quad with a Honor.

We are back on the hilltop where the 3rd Series was held. The line has rotated the hilltop to face the Southwest. The wind is steady at 15 mph coming out of the Northeast. All the marks for this 6th Series Land Quad are well placed and directly downwind of the starting line. The skies are clear and bright. The temperature is 46'F but feels a bit cooler. There are three of the four gun stations retiring behind well camouflaged holding blinds, Thanks to the super duper grounds crew! This test is taking 6 to 7 minutes a dog to complete. The terrain is several gentle rolling hills that are mowed in strips of light to heavy cover. The first gun station to throw is a Mom and Pop throwing a dead Hen pheasant hard angle-back to the left toward the back side of the Flyer gun station which is situated deep on the hill side this mark we will refer to as the Mom. The Mom and Pop measures at 105 yards to retire at the base of the telephone pole. The second gun station to be thrown is across the test to the far left of the field in a valley throwing a dead Rooster pheasant to the left, landing in some medium to heavy cover on the hill side across the valley where the gun station sits. This station retires in the valley and measures at 110 yards it will be referred to as the Left Retired (LTR). The next station to be thrown is the Flyer situated in the middle of the test  measuring at 288 yards. The gunners are throwing a Hen pheasant Flyer to the left where it lands in a dense cover strip on the face of the hill. This is the only gun station that remains visible during this tough test. The last and final bird to be thrown is the Pop out of the station situated at the base of the telephone pole. The Pop is thrown to the right long and flat toward the road landing in a cover strip. This Go-bird is a Hen mallard. Once all the birds are retrieved the working dog moves to the left 5 yards and must Honor the next working dog to the mat. Good Luck Contestants!!! The Judges have set-up quality marks that are a tough, but fair test! Enjoy the ride everyone. The 6th Series is underway.
